An ATV is a powerful machine that you will see all too often on large sand dunes and sandy hills. It provides intense entertainment and more and more people flock to states like Utah for the summer with their Polaris Scrambler 500 to have fun. Even though ATV’s are designed for vigorous use, they are prone to damage and wear and tear over time. The CV Joint is usually one of the first things to go.

Why do CV Joints Break?
Many people ask this question. ATVs are very sturdy vehicles. They are designed to be durable and withstand extreme conditions and usage. With that being said, for it to break down because of a broken Polaris CV Joint is at times hard to comprehend. There is a reason behind it. The CV Joint takes the most pressure from all sides while riding. Not only is it negotiating the weight of the rider, it is also handling the unstable terrain, sharp turns and altering speeds. This puts an enormous strain on the Joint causing it to sometimes snap.

Preventative Measure to Safeguard CV Joints

Maintaining an ATV is no different than maintaining a vehicle. In order to keep your rig in top shop and to prevent the CV Joints from cracking, just follow the two simple steps mentioned below:

·         Routine Inspections – Carry out routine inspections on your rig. Look underneath the chassis and also around the CV Joints. Do this at least once a month. More if you are using it regularly.
·         Clean the Dirt – ATV tend to get very dirty very quick mainly depending on the terrain they have been used on. Therefore, a lot of dust and other particles can end up around the CV Joint and under the chassis. Be sure to keep everything under the hood clean. Either take it to a car wash or do it yourself in your garage.
·         Grease The Joint – The best thing to do in order to protect the Rhino Big Bear Grizzly 660 parts is to keep them greased at all times. This greatly assists the joint in its functionality and allows it to maneuver those extreme turns.

Riders must keep in mind that broken CV Joints are common. It does not mean you haven’t been taking care of your rig. If you are using it vigorously for long periods of time, it will eventually snap. However by following the above mentioned tips, you can be sure to prolong the life of your ATV.
